Why should I study in china?
Hi!
My name is Clara and I have been studying in China for a semester. I attended University of Nottingham Ningbo and definetely heard many reasons why international students were pursuing an education in Ningbo’s campus instead of in the UK, as Nottigham has two other campuses apart from the one in China, it’s main one in the UK and another one in Malaysia
- Technology and modernity: Many students are atracted to China due to it’s amazing technology and the posibilities it might offer. Many engineers and computer science students pursue an education in China in order to get jobs in this country, as it tends to be considered very prestigious on these two areas
- Learning mandarin: Many students are drown to China due to mandarin. In this world, where english is spoken by many people, some students feel atracted by other languages or feel like learning a unique language can open more door in future work opportunities. As China is also seen as rapid developing country that does not stop growing, many people believe that the future language that will outstand English will be Mandarin so they are taking as many chances they get to learn and practice it. And what better place to do it than China. Chinese locals are very blatant who will correct your pronunciation and words even if you are a complete stranger
- International companies and specific areas: Some students, especially in the business area, believe that studying in China can be a good chance to get on the international market. Many companies who work in China are internationally famous and prestige, so some students believe that learning in a chinese university will grant them an entrance in them or at least get an intership. Other students pursue education in China due to a specific area of study they are interested. Some jobs require vey specialized employees, and in some areas, learning in China is a great way to develop those skills and apply them
- Curiosity/ Discovery: Some students are interested in China for its culture or history. Wether they have gotten interested due to media or books, some students pursue an education in order to discover more about the country and its people, and maybe even stay there for the long run. Also some students might not be interested at first in its culture and rather in discover or travel to a country far away from home.
